RPM Nightclub in Vegas Closing

Mary J. Blige performs at the NYE Grand Opening

As quickly as this spot in the new Tropicana Las Vegas opened, it is now closing. After having its grand opening just before New Year’s Eve 2011, it’s closing party is tonight, March 24th 2012. The reason? The space has its 3rd new owner in a year.

The ONE Group, known for operating STK brands, Gansevoort Park & Rooftop, and Bagatelle plans to renovate the nightclub and beach club. They plan to open the new beach club by Memorial Day with the nightclub to follow. A recent press release states:

“Bagatelle, an experience touted by the New York Times as “never too early for a party,” is the originator of the “party brunch” with Champagne-fueled afternoons of a European flair. In Las Vegas, the daytime Bagatelle Beach experience will be enhanced into a full dayclub, offering Mediterraean dining, daybeds for lounging and beachside activities. Come nightfall, Bagatelle Beach will offer poolside dining with access to the new full-service indoor nightclub.”

Jonathan Segal, CEO of The ONE Group said, ”Following the successful opening of STK at The Cosmopolitan, we are extremely excited to expand our footprint here in Las Vegas with Bagatelle”. We see the day & nightlife trend blowing up this Summer as more restaurants are creating party brunch menus and hotels in major cities are using their rooftop bars and pools to throw day parties.

Tonight, comedian Kevin Hart will literally shut RPM down as he hosts the closing party after his comedy show. Doors at 10:30pm.

The Party Continues, but Those Who Know Are Already There

“Unlike New York, the city of Los Angeles does sleep. When the clock strikes 2 a.m. here, bars close down and clubs stop serving alcohol.

But a lively underground after-hours scene is moving to fill the void with an ever-changing menu of unlicensed dance clubs and pop-up speak-easies. Like the password speak-easies of Chicago in the 1920s and the wild after-sunrise dance parties in New York of the 1980s and ’90s, their illicitness is the key to their allure.”

What Chic L.A. wears to the nightclub

By Jenn Harris Los Angeles TimesNovember 13, 2011

On a recent fall evening, three young women walk down Beverly Boulevard together toward Jerry’s Deli. They’re dressed in vertiginous high heels, cut-off frayed denim shorts, sheer peasant blouses and, for the tallest in the group, a floppy brown suede hat. Their outfits might lead an observer to conclude they are on their way to a Malibu beach party. But after they pass the deli’s brightly lighted windows, they stop in front of the Beverly nightclub, and within seconds they bypass the crowd huddled around the doorman and claim their places inside. Greenhouse’s Sub-Basement Is Now Art-Themed Nightclub W.i.P.

The name is short for “Work in Progress,” and it was a work in progress itself for over a year. Now finally open, the 5,000-square-foot nightclub premiered Wednesday night for a mishmash of artists, PR people, friends of PR people, and actor Dean Winters. The entrance is separate from Greenhouse’s, and you descend a flight of stairs into a long, wide corridor. Before the corridor, however, is a little cubbyhole where, on Wednesday, a contortionist in a babydoll dress was lounging on a shiny rocking horse, her leg casually draped over her shoulder. “What, you guys can’t do this?” she said coyly.
